Carlo Ancelotti Stays At Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, has agreed to an extension to his contract, which will now run to 2026 with an additional two years, and is almost certain that he will remain with the Spanish team.

The Italian’s current contract expires until the summer of 2024, and Relevo announced on Friday morning that he has committed to the deal. The club confirmed the news shortly after. The official announcement was the only thing pending when the crew agreed to go on vacation for a little winter break.

Real Madrid waited for the first few months of the Ancelotti era to pass in order to make sure the former Chelsea coach would be the best person to usher in a new era after Karim Benzema left in the summer, despite their long-standing insistence that Ancelotti was their top priority for the future of the dugout.

With the squad leading LALIGA and winning all six of their UEFA Champions League group stage matches, Ancelotti has exceeded everyone’s expectations. Furthermore, Jude Bellingham’s outstanding play—a great summer addition—has only strengthened Ancelotti’s position.

“I worked hard and had a strong desire to succeed at work, but Mr Ancelotti deserves the recognition for finding the ideal role for me and granting me more latitude in the field. Bellingham declared, “I’m flying on the pitch now that I’ve won Golden Boy earlier this month.”

With players like Nico Paz and Gonzalo García earning their first team debuts in recent weeks, Los Blancos say that they need a long-term coach in order to continue giving chances and opportunities to young players wanting to break into the first squad.

The way Ancelotti has managed the team’s chronic injury crisis, which has cost the coach several of his most important players, has also won the club over. Despite this, he has avoided pressuring the team to make acquisitions or invest more money; instead, he has looked to young players when feasible and identified tactical answers.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) have expressed considerable interest in hiring Ancelotti to lead their national squad. The CBF even went so far as to declare in the summer that Ancelotti would captain the squad in the upcoming Copa America in 2024.

When Real Madrid phoned the coach right away to request an explanation, the former Milan manager clarified that no such arrangement had been made.

The news that Ednaldo Rodrigues had resigned as CBF president early in December added to the rumours that the arrangement had fallen through and Brazil was left looking foolish because Ancelotti’s future was still in Madrid.

Ancelotti has been vague about his future in public for the entire time. After a disastrous 2022–2023 season in which the team won the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Copa del Rey but lost the Champions League and LALIGA, there had been rumours that his future would be elsewhere.

The coach will not have to be as patient after signing this extension, as he has vowed that he would wait until the last day of his contract for the opportunity to stay at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti is the only Real Madrid coach in club history to have managed more games than any other, having overseen 240 matches over his two stints in the role. Miguel Muñoz, a legendary figure, led the squad out 595 times throughout a 14-year span.

Nevertheless, Ancelotti is tied for the record as Real Madrid’s all-time greatest coach with Zinedine Zidane after winning two Champions League titles. In addition, he needs just one more trophy to surpass all previous male club record holdings in the Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

The club will play again in January, this time for their first chance to win a trophy of the season when they play Atlético Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semifinal. An announcement is anticipated soon.
